What Are Some Specific Sportswear Clothing Needed for Each Type of Workout?
A good set of sportswear clothing can extract overheat quickly and reduce the pressure in our circulatory system. Softness and comfort are the primary requirements for protecting our skin. There is constant friction between our arms, legs, and body when doing long-distance running, so soft and comfortable fabrics can have better protection for our skin and reduce friction at a minimum.

Breathability, perspiration, and quick drying are important aspects when choosing sporting clothes. because our body creates more heat when running, it requires our body to dissipate heat quickly to keep our body temperature balanced. Therefore, breathable material can help to regulate our body temperature. More and more sportswear clothing is made up of perspiration-wicking and quick-drying fabrics, especially for the body areas that are prone to sweating so that our skin will remain dry.
Below are some examples of specific clothing needs for different types of workouts.
- Outdoor running: Outdoor running generally lasts for about 1 hour, and long-distance running lasts for around 3 hours. It requires sportswear to be breathable, quick-drying, comfortable, and not cotton-made when doing outdoor running. When you are doing marathon running, you may need more equipment, such as a hat, sleeves, leg protectors, sporting glasses…etc.
- Cross-country running: Doing cross-country running outdoors which is far away from the crowd. There could be extreme weather when you are climbing mountains with a higher altitude, in this case, it requires our tops and shorts to be not only quick-drying and breathable but also to be scratch resistant. When running wear is too lightweight or meshed, there is a risk of being scratched by branches and getting our skin hurt, it will be a good choice to wear a jacket or sun protection skinsuit.
- Mountain climbing: When climbing the mountain, it is better to choose simple, portable, durable, and easy removal sportswear clothing, Wearing a light fleece or jacket is a good choice too! It is better to wear long pants to keep us warm and protect us from being scratched by thorns or bitten by snakes. It will help us climb the mountains by wearing lightweight and stretchy shoes such as hiking boots or sneakers.
Research has shown that our immunity system is relatively fragile when finishing doing sports, the remained sweat is still not subsided on our body. It will be easy to get a cold or flu if we do not wear a warm and dry coat. So keeping warm is another important aspect that needs to be considered when doing sports, especially during the seasons out of summer.
